Embarkation Day

We got up about 8am this morning and packed up to head to the port of Barcelona. After a fairly smooth embarkation process we were aboard the Norwegian Sky by about 11:30am, just in time for lunch at the buffet.

It’s a gorgeous day today, sunny and 65 degrees!  After lunch we strolled around the ship to get the lay of the land, so to speak. Then we plopped down at the pool to wait for our cabin to be ready — siesta time!

Our fellow passengers seem to be a lot of U.S. Americans, with a mix of other nationalities.  We were curious what the age demographics would be. Seems to be a large portion of 40-60’s, a few older and a few younger. We’ve noticed just a handful of kids. The ship is probably the smallest ship we’ve ever cruised on at 848 feet long — not really that small. Anyone can see where we are over the next 16 days by searching Norwegian Sky at the website — https://www.cruisemapper.com/ — Also check out how many cruise ships are out there. Incredible!

Our room was ready just after 2pm. We booked an inside cabin to save even more money, but a few weeks ago were offered an upgrade at a great price, much less than if we’d booked it in April. So we did it!  It’s not a necessity, but it’s a little something nice.

After getting in the room Kristi opted for another siesta (she’s really been pushing hard and is exhausted today).  Jim opted for a second lunch. ๐Ÿ˜

We’re not trying to be disparaging when we say that Barcelona doesn’t have a particularly pretty skyline. It has other redeeming qualities. Here’s a pic of city from the stern of the ship:

We shoved off at 5:01pm. Won’t have service for a couple days. Will probably post at our next port. ¡Adios!
